Mt Kenya Politician Opposes Sabina Chege As Raila's Running Mate, Names His Choice

Murang' a County Senatorial aspirant Pius Kinuthia has opposed nomination of area Woman Representative MP Sabina Wanjiru Chege as the presidential running mate of ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Kinuthia, who is vying on ODM ticket, said instead of Sabina, Raila should pick Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya as his deputy in the Azimio la Umoja movement. " In Mt Kenya, it is only Peter Munya who has the people' s good will, " said the youthful aspirant who is seeking an elective post for the first time.

Kinuthia was responding to controversial blogger and Nyando MP aspirant Robert Alai who said Sabina was a " very good candidate" for running mate position.

In addition to Kinuthia, Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi is another prominent Mt Kenya leader who has asked Raila to pick Munya as his deputy arguing he (Munya) has proven he is worth the position judging by his exemplary performance in the Agriculture Ministry.

" We pray for Peter Munya to get a good position at the national level, we know the deputy president position has not been named, he is a strong fighter, he is a warrior, " said Kiraitu.

In a recent tour in Meru, the ODM boss hinted on nominating his running mate from Mt Kenya but insisted he was keen to work with individuals who will deliver.

I have no problem picking my running mate from Mt Kenya East or West because what matters is to have a person who will deliver to Kenyans in the next government but not the region he comes from, " said the Azimio la Umoja leader.
