Former prime minister Raila Odinga has been contacted by Homabay County Senator Moses Kajwang, who has asked President Ruto to do so.
This was spoken by him as he addressed the assembled officials in the lakeside county who had come to greet the head of state.
The senator, who was a staunch ally of previous prime minister Raila Odinga, first complimented the president for putting aside politics to travel to an area that did not support him in the most recent general election.
He praised the president and pointed out that since Homabay citizens pay taxes as well, it is important that they cooperate with the head of state.
Adding that they will tell their party's leader Raila Odinga of anything they discussed, he said that the conversation would continue.
When the senator instructed the former prime minister to save his time and inform the ODM leader of their conversation, it appeared as though he was pushing for a meeting between the president and the former leader of the opposition party.
"Tumeongea, Tumechapa Story na Tutamwambia Baba Umeongea Na Watoto Wake. Ukipata Nafasi Umwambie Baba Chenye Tumeongea is the executive of Na Wewe "This roughly translates to mean that the senator and I have spoken and will continue to speak, as well as that we will inform Baba (Raila) that you have spoken to his children. Should you have the opportunity, the senator added, please also inform Baba that you have spoken to his children.
The previous prime minister was informed of the meeting and granted his approval as the party leader, the senator further disclosed. He added that, notwithstanding political disagreements, no region should lag behind in terms of growth.
