Chief Administrative Secretary for Public Service and Gender Beatrice Elachi rebuked women leaders for complacency and waiting for appointments instead of showing the aggressive temperament of their male counterparts.
Elachi who was speaking during a late night show on national television however heaped praise on women who have shown initiative and set an example for others mentioning Martha Karua, Charity Ngilu and the late Wangari Maathai.
She said since the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution women have made strides as they enjoyed greater political space. She also praised devolution and the BBI saying, "am hopeful that come 2022 we shall have more female leaders in elected positions."
Beatrice Elachi is the CAS, Public Service and Gender.
She put emphasis on the 'elected' seeing she holds her office as an appointee of the president. The BBI makes provision for the two-thirds gender rule as a compulsory requirement in public office.
