Marking the labour day celebrations, the president went ahead to address the nation concerning the covid-19 measures and also update the nation on the current situation of the disease in the country.
The Labor day, is a dedication to celebrate all the workers in the country and many Kenyans anticipated that the president would deliver some good news despite the tough times Kenyans had been in. In the address, the president noted that over two million Kenyans lost jobs since the pandemic was confirmed in the country. This is so saddening but the the president gave hope to Kenyans after announcing the following.
With regards to the covid-19 measures, the president went ahead to lift the lockdown among the five counties, that is Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Machakos and Kiambu. The president added that the curfew hours in these counties have also been lifted and will start at 10pm to 4am.
The president also announced that schools will be reopened in accordance to the school calender. This is a great relief to the students who were worried on when schools will be reopened. In addition, the president announced that all bars should operate till 7pm.
This comes to be good news to all Kenyans considering that things will change after the economy has been reopened. Many Kenyans had been through tough times after the lockdown therefore reopen brings in relief to many.
