Former national assembly representative for the Kiambaa district Stanley Githunguri passed away this evening while receiving medical care in a Nairobi hospital.
The former congressman who also held the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Bank went away at the age of 77. After getting involved in politics in 2007, he was able to unseat former powerful cabinet minister Njenga Karume and take over the MP seat for the Kiambaa constituency.
Current Kiambaa MP John Kawanjiku confirmed the death and wrote a heartfelt expression of sympathy to the family and friends. The late former congressman was described by him as being committed to ensuring the wellbeing of the populace.
According to additional reports, the deceased had previously received a kidney transplant and was battling diabetes, hypertension, dementia, and high blood pressure.
“I interacted with Stanley Githunguri as a young man. He was a dedicated leader who was committed to the welfare of his people," Kawanjiku said.
May his soul rest in peace.
