Breaking: High Court Stop Wajir Deputy Governor Assuming Office as Governor After Court Petition

Meru High Court stops Wajir Deputy Governor Muktar Ali from assuming office as Governor pending determination of petition by impeached leader Mohamed Abdi.

Muktari Ali was already sworn in as the Governor of Wajir in a short swearing in ceremony at Wajir County Headquarters.

Mohammed AbdI was impeached by the Senate yesterday for gross misconduct after Senate Special committee chaired by Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni approved his impeachment.

25 Senators voted in favor of impeachment 2 voted No and 4 abstained.

He is the 3rd Governor to be impeached from office. The 1st was Ferdinand Waititu of Kiambu County and Mike Mbuvi Sonko of Nairobi County.

The current Embu Governor and chair of Counsel of Governors Chair Martin Wambora was once impeached and he was saved by the court after an appeal.

He has faced many impeachment motion on his first term in the office but he managed to overcome it.
