A new political twist has been witnessed suddenly in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, after the members of Parliament allied to the party from Luo Nyanza suddenly back thier party leader Raila Odinga's recent statement that next year's general elections will be free and fair, despite their previous statements of lacking confidence with Independent Electrol and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Speaking during a meeting in Siaya county as reported by TV47, Raila's allies led by Ugunja Member of Parliament Hon Opiyo Wandayi, Siaya Senator James Orengo, Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Hon Samuel Atandi and Rarieda counterpart Dr Otiende Amolo said that they are confident that 2022 general elections will be free and fair.
The legislators expressed their confidence with Independent Electrol and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) saying that it will conduct a free and fair elections, as they also urged Kenyans to come out in large numbers and register as voters in order to give ODM enough votes to take over and lead the next government. This statement comes just a few days after the ODM chief Raila Odinga also promised Kenyans a free and fair elections, as long as the handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta remains intact ahead of next year's polls. After a section of ODM legislators led by Homabay Woman Representative Hon Gladys Wanga, had earlier on expressed their dissatisfaction for IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to chair the Commission again in next year's polls.
