William Samoei Ruto, the deputy president, has formed a political alliance with Musalia Mudavadi, the leader of the Amani National Congress (ANC).
This was the 'earthquake' Musalia was referring to, and it was an earthquake for the majority of Kenyans.
Now that Musalia and Ruto are poised to campaign together, it's a political kickoff for them, but the big question that Kenyans are asking is who will be the flagbearer.
The flagbearer will undoubtedly be vice president William Samoei Ruto, but who will be the deputy president? This issue, I predict, will keep Ruto awake at night if he is chosen as his running mate. Why?
With Musalia as his running mate, it will be a major blow to the Mount Kenya region, which will most likely change its political course, resulting in a split of votes and Ruto losing votes from the region.
If the ANC wins the general elections, Ruto will have to make a difficult decision about who would be his running mate and which job he may give to the ANC leader.
