Baringo County became the first county to shoot down the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) after 30 members of the County assembly voted to reject the constiutional amendment Bill 2020, with only 11 supporting it while 4 being absent as confirmed by the Assembly speaker on Monday during Citizen Tv daybreak interview.
However, fresh details have emerged from Baringo, a sort of good news to the future of the BBI in the County, after a section of MCAs proceeded to court to seek for a block of the BBI result in the County.
The Star has allegged that through a lawyer, the MCAs petitioned the high Court in Kabarnet, aguing that the voting provess was accompanied by acrimony and harassment, resulting to poor decision making amongst them.
“My clients are contesting the shambolic process, acrimony and the harassment against them during the process. We pray that the judge will give a fair judgment to their plea,” Lawyer Gordon Ogola said.
Should the petition pulling through, it will be a huge relief to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Handshake'partner Raila Odinga as they are the people leading the line in championing for BBI, because the Court may give Baringo MCAs a second chance to make right decision.
