Murang'a senator Irungu Kang’ata who is eying the gubernatorial seat on deputy president Wiliam Ruto's United Democratic Alliance party, was on Tuesday forced to drop his running mate after her eligibility was challenged since he did not resign in time as required by the law.
Kang’ata was forced to settle on a 29yrs old youth who had unsuccessfully vied for United Democratic Alliance nominations in Kariara ward.

While defending his move, Kang’ata claimed that the young man will be representing the youths of the United Democratic Alliance party in Murang’a County.
The youth is Stephen Mburu munania who hails from Kariara ward, in Gatanga constituency- the most populated ward in Murang'a county. He is a degree holder in International Diplomacy and has previously worked as an Assistant County Commissioner Cadet in Kenol.
