In the elections, IEBC declared Gladys Wanga as governor elect with 244,559, followed by Evans Kidero who polled 154,182 votes. However, the former governor has disputed these results arguing that he won in six sub counties and his votes were supposed to be 225000 and not what was reported.
He claimed that the people of Homabay will not get any meaningful development should he concede defeat as Wanga is being imposed on them.
Kidero promised never to let the people of Homabay down by fighting for their rights hinting at challenging Wanga's win.
He claimed that his candidature was informed by the decision by the Orange Democratic Movement party to issue direct ticket to Wanga without going for nomination adding that the people of Homabay pushed him to contest.
