Deputy president William Ruto might have sensed a looming defeat on his presidential ambitions and intends to capitalise on unity calls by the church leadership to reach out to Uhuru. This is the only way left for him in the hopes that he will cement his previous cordial relationship with his boss.President Uhuru enjoys sizable support across the country and will ultimately influence the 2022 poll. As the head of state, more resources and government machineries are at his disposal hence any candidate with his blessings will have more advantage than others.Ruto had been seen as his undisputable successor until when ODM leader Raila Odinga joined hands with Uhuru and complicated his political arithmetics. Up to now,Ruto continues to face obstacles from the duo with his presidential bid at stake. Majority of the president allies including powerful state officials have openly shown rebellion to him.Despite the churches calling for the truce and Ruto's willingness,Uhuru has remained silent raising concerns on his commitment to embrace the reunion. Suppose Uhuru accepts,he may be forced to abandon his handshake brother,Raila given that Ruto still blames him as the main causer of their differences.Already,Uhuru is spearheading cooperation talks with opposition leaders with an intention of neutralising Ruto's dominance ahead of the poll. This will also automatically isolate him hence denying him their support which he dearly needs. The truce is likely to be a game changer much to his advantage.
