Meet Youthful MP Behind Raila Odinga's Growing Popularity In Mt Kenya

What a difference a day can make in the world of politics is being seen in Uhuru Kenyatta' s backyard as ODM leader Raila Odinga who was once reviled in the Mount Kenya region is now turning tables and is being celebrated. Mt Kenya Children have been for long raised with the belief that the former Prime Minister is a terrible omen for the region.

In Mt Kenya, the name " Raila" was associated with fear. And indeed, several politicians in the region won seats simply by saying anything nasty about Raila. Old prejudices, on the other hand, expire quickly. In the vote- rich group, the ODM leader is gradually becoming a hero.

Though President Uhuru Kenyatta deserves much of the credit for improving the region' s perception of Raila following their 2018 handshake agreement following the highly contested 2017 presidential election, there is one guy who is frequently overlooked.

Kanini Kega, a member of Parliament from Kieni, has emerged as a significant Raila " general" in the Mount Kenya region.

Though he may not always get the recognition he deserves, the legislator is one of the few people who genuinely supports the former Prime Minister' s intentions for the country. As a result, it' s no surprise that he' s become a critical cog in his political machine moving ahead.

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Nominated MP Maina Kamanda are often referred to as Raila' s foot soldiers, but Kega is far more.

Raila' s big march to State House will undoubtedly take off in style, as he gradually paints the Mount Kenya region orange.

If the former Prime Minister is serious about running for President, Kega should be at the center of his strategy. And if he wants to earn support from the Mount Kenya region, he can count on the man from Kieni!
