Big Blow To a Top Presidential Contender After Latest Political "Punch" Ahead Of August Ninth

Four presidential candidates have already gained approval from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to run in the keenly anticipated general elections on August 9 with about 42 days to spare.

The quartet consists of David Mwaure Waihiga of the Agano Party, Raila Amolo Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Political Party, William Samoei Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance Party, and George Wajackoyah of The Roots Party.

Regarding this impending duel, Ruto and Raila are seen to be the fiercest and strongest competitors out of the four.

A political "punch" to Deputy President William Samoei Ruto was delivered on Tuesday when more than 150 ANC Party officials and more than 30 UDA Party grassroots activists from the North Rift region of the Rift Valley switched allegiances to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Political party, which is led by Raila Odinga.

Dr Sally Kosgei, the movement's regional campaign director in charge, Alex Tolgoi, the county governor of Elegeyo-Marakwet, and Kipkorir Menjo, an ODM party official, all attended the official reception for the defectors at the Azimio Center in Eldoret.

This most recent event deals Ruto's presidential campaign a political "blow,", especially in his home region of North Rift.
