Orange Democratic Movement Party Principal Raila Odinga and his Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance members have made a new move that is set to negatively affect activities in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) as they make a new move.
Former IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati and his commissioner left the key office in January 2023, a move that left the commission vacant and therefore, there was need to have vacant positions filled.
The William Ruto led Kenya Kwanza alliance and the Raila Odinga led Azimio merger were to appoint one member each to the IEBC selection panel while the other five individuals were to be selected from other key stakeholders in the country.
According to the Monday's 'The Star'newspaper, the ODM Party leader Raila Odinga's new move is set to paralyze activities in IEBC. According to the publication, the ODM Party leader in liaison with his Azimio merger have refused to nominate one person to sit on the IEBC committee.
According to the publication, six individuals have already been selected and Odinga's merger is the only one that has not nominated a member to the panel. This indicates that the IEBC activities will not go on until Odinga appoints the seventh member to the committee.
