Juja parliamentary seat was left vacant after untimely death of Francis Munyua Waititu who succumbed to brain cancer while receiving treatment at MP Shah Hospital. He was sixth legislator at the time and now his widow, Susan Njeri is in the race to vie for the seat.
Susan Njeri was nominated by Jubilee party in an election that was marred by low turnout of voters. She will battle it out it with JKUAT Don Muiga Rugara, Karanja Ngarachu, Antony Kirori and former Kiambu education officer Joseph Ng'ang'a.
United Democratic Alliance decided against fielding any candidate citing different reasons. However, UDA allied MP Moses Kuria has issued verdict on the appointment of Susan Njeri whom he feels (in a proverbial manner) she is not qualified for the post.
Moses Kuria used an example of early 2000's most wanted robber Wanugu, whom he said his wife didn't inherit his thievery acts to succeed her infamous husband.
"When notorious thief Wanugu was gunned down, his widow did not turn to robbery to finish off the work he started. I am still waiting for John De’Methew’s widow to release a song." He said on a Facebook post on his page.
The by-election is slated for May 18th this year.
