Embattled Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Mike Mbuvi Sonko who is battling a litany of court cases that seek to block him from the fast approaching polls has expressed his optimism in overcoming all hurdles thrown his way by people he termed as 'enemies' who feel threatened by his candidature.
According to Sonko his so called enemies have deployed a strategy of keeping them busy in courts where some alleged commissioner is being utilised to compromise the court process but above all, Sonko has pointed of imminent defeat to his 'enemies'.
As at now Sonko's case where he challenged the electrol commission's decision to disqualify him is at the Supreme court where chief justice Martha Koome appointed a bench to handle the matter.
"Happening right Now with Hon. Ali Menza Mbogo. Our enemies strategy is to keep us busy in court with IEBC cases where they planted their own commissioner to influence unconstitutional decisions but MUNGU ni Nani? Wait and see." Sonko said.
In the case before the highest court in the land, Sonko who is facing existential crisis of his political career wants the court to bar the electoral commission IEBC from publishing in the Kenya Gazette any candidate in respect to the position of Governor Mombasa County.
Sonko through his lawyers maintained that he submitted his documents before the returning officer Mombasa County on time for nomination.
Sonko was also disqualified on grounds of his previous impeachment in line with Article 75(3) of the Constitution which dictates that any person who is removed from office on contravention of Chapter 6 of the Constitution is disqualified from holding any other state or public office, whether elective or appointive.
