Everyone is looking for a coalition so as to clinch the county seat or to defend their seat. The party transfer is on and movements of politicians from one party to another are seen. Some want to be associated with the current Deputy President while others want to be on the Former Prime Minister's side. Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has not been left behind and her movement from the Jubilee party to Ruto's UDA is about to be confirmed today. It can be remembered that Ann Waiguru got her Gubernatorial seat in 2017 through the support of the Jubilee party.
It is evident that both the President and the former Prime Minister had a hand in saving Waiguru's job last year when he was about to be impeached. Many thought that Waiguru would remain to be a Jubilee party member and maybe support the Jubilee Presidential Candidate in the upcoming election. This changed and the Kirinyaga Governor is expected to be welcomed officially into the UDA camp at Dr. Ruto's home today.
Waiguru is expected to defend her Kirinyaga Gubernatorial seat in the upcoming elections. With her leaving Jubilee, she will face stiff competition from the aspirant who will be running using the Jubilee party. Those who have shown interest in giving Waiguru a challenge include the current Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Ngirici and the Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua. Other rumors indicate that the Governor could be the running mate for the Deputy President. All we can do is wait and see how the events will turn.
