The High Court on Monday (today), cleared Machakos politician Timothy Maneno eyeing the Nguu/ Masumba Ward MCA seat, and further directed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure he is cleared within three days.
Mr. Maneno had filed a petition challenging the IEBC after they refused to clear him for the contest during the by-elections set for this month.
Maneno is set to run on an independent ticket, seeking to clinch the MCA seat currently vacant. In an earlier application rejected by the IEBC, the commission told him off arguing that he didn't meet the set requirements as per the Gazette Notice No. 7520.
The seat fell vacant following MCA Harrison Ngui's death through a road accident in July. Eshio Mwaiwa of Wiper Party and Daniel Kivuva Musau of UDA were the only candidates who had been cleared by the commission.
Maneno had at one time served as the area's MCA.
