Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Dr. Fred Matiang'i, who served as their cabinet secretary for interior and coordination of national government, have faced harsh criticism for how they handled the Huduma namba initiative.
Eliud Owalo, minister of information and communication technology (ICT), claims in an interview that the former head of state and his team made a serious error on the Huduma namba program.
He claims that the previous president and the cabinet secretary who oversaw the department in question at the time, CS Fred Matiang'i, did not do enough to educate Kenyans about the ambitious scheme, creating a bad public opinion.
Besides that, CS Eliud Owalo says the former president and his government made a big mistake by launching the program just before the general election, something that he says worked against it.
He says that his ministry is going to correct Uhuru's wrongs and relaunch the program properly. He says the program will be key in the quest by the government to digitize 5,000 government services.
