Meru Bodabodas Cry Out Ahead of DP Ruto’s Tour Claiming What Politicians Are Planning to Do

Bodaboda operators and traders are now blaming politicians for using them to get millions of money from Deputy President William Ruto. DP Ruto has been organizing meetings with small business operators in different areas across the country and giving them money to share saying it is his efforts to economically uplift low-income earners.

However, majority of Bodaboda operators and traders say that they do not receive the money. In the areas where DP meets the traders, he is often accompanied by politicians who support him, including the MPs who he uses to organize the meetings. However, many youths and traders have complained that they do not get the money from his handouts blaming his partners for shortchanging them.

Over the weekend, Bodaboda riders in Meru County and Tharaka Nithi County blamed UDA associates for using them to extort money from the Deputy President for their own benefit. Speaking to reporters in Chuka, the chairman of Tharaka Nithi Bodaboda Operators Association Mr Lewis Mutwiri accused Igambang'ombe MP Patrick Munene of receiving money from DP Ruto during a visit to the area and failing to distribute it. They have also blamed the MP of refusing to cooperate with registered Bodaboda groups adding that the MP is tricking them by using impostors for his personal gains. The group now says that they want the Deputy President to give the money directly to them and not through politicians.
