Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga has today, 6 January 2023, highlighted what the party is planning.
Raila has declared this year he is going to make sure that the ODM Party is cleaned from the grassroots to the top, and that all leaders are working together.
The ODM leader is after seeing all leaders in the party united and working together for the party objectives. He believes that if ODM is strong, and other parties of Azimo are also strong, then Azimio is going to be a stronger coalition.
He was speaking on Friday in Mombasa County where he met leaders from the region
"Mwaka huu tutasafisha chama kuanzia juu hadi mashinani. Nataka kuona wanachama wetu wakifanya kazi pamoja," Raila said which loosely translates to
(This year we are going to clean up the party, starting from the top down to the grassroots. I want to see our party members working together as a team).
Furthermore, Raila also expressed his wish to have all other parts of Azimio la Umoja remain united and establish themselves as strong parts and form a strong opposition
"Sisi tunataka kuona ODM ikiwa na nguvu, Wiper, Jubilee, Kanu, DP pia zikiwa na nguvu ili Azimio iwe strong na isimame imara," he added, which loosely translates to
(We want to see ODM growing stronger, and we want to see Wiper being strong, same to Kanu, Jubilee and others, this will help Azimio to be strong)
His remarks come amid reports that former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho ditched the party. Joho who also holds the position of ODM deputy party leader has been mute on political matters since the last general election.
Joho was one of the vocal leaders in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party who crisscrossed the whole country asking for Kenyans to vote for Raila.
