On Sunday, Deputy president William Ruto was in Kiambaa, where he attended a church service together with his brigade.

According to the DP, he was accompanied by 25 Mps during the event, sending a strong message of his support in Mt Kenya region.

"In the company of more than 25 MPs, engaged and empowered small-scale traders at Gachie Market, Gachie Power Junction and Karuri High School in Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County." he tweeted.

Mt Kenya has become such a fertile ground for presidential hopefuls , with Ruto, Raila and Mudavadi leading charm offensives into the region.

It's widely believed the region will not produce a presidential candidate in the upcoming polls hence the scramble by politicians to get the backing of locals.

Earlier in the day (Sunday), Ruto had bragged how President Uhuru Kenyatta (considered Mt Kenya Kingpin) thought him how to climb the Mountain.

"Many people are struggling to climb the mountain but I am lucky my friend Uhuru Kenyatta had already taught me how to climb the mountain early. He told me if you want to be together with people of the mountain take care of their needs like roads, water and Agriculture," Ruto said today.
