President Uhuru Kenyatta Issues New Directives on Security Affairs

President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to heighten vigilance across the country on Friday, 12th November 2021. This comes after several cases of insecurity and volatility are reported from various parts of the country.

In his statement, the president called on the Ministry led by the Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, to ensure that security officers are ever ready to restore peace in case of any attack.

While chairing the National Security Council meeting, president Uhuru Kenyatta noted that the security levels in the country were facing challenges that needed to be addressed with immediate effect.

"His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed internal security institutions to heighten vigilance and surveillance across the country following the unfolding security situation in the region." Read a statement signed by State House spokesperson, Kanze Dena.

This directive come days after several attacks were recorded in the Northern Frontier District, and more specifically in areas of Marsabit. Hence, the need to raise security levels.
