Renowned criminal lawyer Cliff Ombetta has identified politicians who he argued are Kenya's main problems. Writing on Twitter on Saturday, Mr Ombetta identified those politicians as the Kenyan head of state President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President Dr William Ruto, and the Orange Democratic Movement ODM party leader Raila Odinga. He shared a picture of the three national leaders captioned: "Our main problems: current and future."
The three national leaders that were identified by Cliff Ombeta are a fixture of politics in Kenya. Raila Odinga and William Ruto were strong allies in 2007 but fell out after the formation of the Grand Coalition government that was led by Kibaki. The ODM leader ran against the Uhuru and Ruto presidential ticket in the 2013 and 2017 elections and lost in both elections.
As the 2022 general elections beckon, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr Odinga are reading from the same script with tensions reported between the head of state and his deputy.

Uhuru Kenyatta is in his second and final term. In 2022, he is expected to hand over the reins of presidential power to the next head of state. He has said that he will not seek to extend his presidency through constitutional amendments which he has supported.
Critics of the clamour for constitutional amendments say that it is aimed at benefitting politicians and not the people of Kenya. Raila Odinga, the chief proponent of a constitutional amendment referendum, has denied that the amendments are about individuals.
