The decision by ODM leader Raila Odinga to appoint Martha Karua as his running mate has caused some panic in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance ahead of the general elections. The coalition now fears that Martha Karua will help deliver Mt Kenya to the hands of Raila Odinga hence making him win the elections.
Ruto has come up with a team of women to counter the influence of Martha Karua in Mt Kenya. According to reports by Nation Africa, the selected women will receive some training on how to deliver Mt Kenya back to William Ruto. They will be led by Aisha Jumwa. Martha Karua's strong will to fight corruption and deception in Mt Kenya seems to be troubling the Kenya Kwanza team.
Some of the women that have been put in the special operation team include;
Anne Waiguru - Kirinyaga governor
Faith Gitau - Nyandarua Women Rep
Margaret Wanjiru - Senator aspirant Nairobi
Millicent Omanga - woman rep aspirant Nairobi
Alice Wahome - Kandara MP
Susan Kihika - Nakuru Senator
Gathoni Wamuchomba - Kiambu Woman Rep
Jayne Kihara - Naivasha MP
Cate Waruguguru - Laikipia Woman Rep
“They will be trained by a team led by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa on how to express their points. They will team up with selected partners from Rift Valley and other regions so as to convince women in their regions that Ms Karua is just a campaign tool, not a commitment to real empowerment,” the planner of the UDA party said.
