Verified IEBC Tally Shows Raila Odinga Narrowly Leading With 46,286 In Starehe

Kenyans prayed for peace on Sunday as they waited anxiously for the final outcome of the presidential election, with the two frontrunners, Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja coalition and William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza, almost neck and neck, according to partial official results.

ODM leader Raila secured the most votes in Starehe constituency in Nairobi county.

Raila got 46,286 votes while Ruto had 43,140 votes.

Presidential candidates George Wajackoyah of the Roots party and David Mwaure (Agano) got 417 and 341 votes respectively.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said out of 169,656 registered people only 90,184 of the votes cast were valid. The number of rejected ballot were 698.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission must verify ballot papers from 291 constituencies and diaspora results before announcing the winner.

Before Kenyans could know their president among the four candidates, Agano Party Presidential candidate Mwaure conceded defeat endorsing the UDA leader.
