Top Azimio Bigwig Now Linked To The Grabbing of a Prime Government Piece of Land

The issue of land grabbing in Kenya has become rampant in the past years with civil servants taking advantage of their time in office to amass wealth through unscrupulous ways. 

424 individuals and entities, including state institutions, firms, and children’s homes have been accused of illegally acquiring and encroaching on 2321.09 acres of Kenya Prisons Service land in Kitale.

According to a report by a local daily, the acquisition of the land LR No. Kapkoi/Mabonde Bock 1/EX-Prison- (LR2197/2/2), is endangering the completeness, ownership, and security of the state department’s historical assets. The assets are worth over Sh2.47 billion.

According to documents that were tabled in Parliament have indicated that the public land was irregularly acquired over 30 years ago. Azimio Principal and Former Kwanza MP Noah Wekesa and General (Rtd) Daudi Tonje are among those who were mentioned in the scandal. 

Former Kenya Seed Company (KSC) managing director Nathaniel Tum is also a beneficiary who owns at least 80 acres of the land. former nominated MP Mark Too owns 70 acres, while former Rift Valley Provincial Commissioner Ishmael Chelang’a owns 10 acres.
