The Azimio Presidential running mate Martha Karua's campaign rally in Kisii was abruptly ended earlier than scheduled due to a tear gas explosion.
Mama Ida Odinga, Raila Odinga's wife, was also present.
Karua had barely taken the stage at the rally being held in Kisii Stadium to make a speech when the explosion took place.
Locals reportedly fled for safety when Martha Karua's bodyguards drew her away and drove her to her car.
She was forced to leave the podium and return to her car in order to leave the location of the event without speaking to the supporters in attendance.
The audience that had gathered at the Stadium was forced to evacuate for their own safety, which caused the gathering that had been going on there to disperse.
A power struggle between Dagoretti MP Simba Arati and Kisii Governor James Ongwae led to the disorderly mayhem.
When Karua and Ida attempted to hold a demonstration at Gusii Stadium but it was canceled due to pandemonium, some of the kids were hurt during the altercation.
As Arati and Ongwae fans fought, authorities were forced to step in.
