As he moves with speed to right his predecessor John Pombe Magufuli's perceived ruinous reign, Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has made a bold step to repair her country's international reputation.

According to German media giant DW's Facebook post, the Tanzanian leader has hired the services of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, just 7 months into her reign.

It is reported that as a way to effectively respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in her country, President Suluhu has hired the services of Blair through his Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

Further, Blair is tasked with repairing the country's damaged reputation around the globe.

Technically, as President Suluhu's key advisor in matters COVID-19 pandemic and diplomacy, the former British PM could be the Tanzania leader's magic bullet in her quest to leave a mark during her rule.

Suluhu's decision to hire Blair is however expected to get too much backlash especially from her critics who believe that the move is unnecessary considering the cost that may be involved.
