Opinion: How Mt Kenya MPs Are Butchering Hustler Nation as Helpless Ruto Stares

Ruto's consultative meeting with atleast 16 legislators from Mt Kenya at Maasai Mara reserve ends today. What Ruto doesn't know or realize is that the same men he is busy dining with are busy wrecking the vehicle he intends to ride to statehouse come 2022.

Mt Kenya political brokers led by Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua, Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu) and Moses Kuria ( Gatundu South) are knowingly destroying the Hustler nation's public image as helpless Ruto stares.

Ruto's hustler nation had a national outlook when it was first introduced to Kenyans, it had nothing to do with tribal awards. It was formed as a habitat of leaders from across the country, it was formed to accommodate to accommodate everyone regardless of tribe or originality.

The team led by Gachagua has reduced UDA to a mere tribal/ community affair. Recently the Mt Kenya leaders gave Ruto political conditions that Ruto must guarantee before they pledge loyalty. Surprisingly, the conditions were tribal based.

The team demanded that Ruto must promise to appoint a deputy president from Mt Kenya. The team also demanded that Ruto must guarantee to safeguard the economic well being of the Central region. They should have talked about national affairs such as eradication of corruption rather concentrate on politically l awarding themselves.

The hustler nation has now been reduced to a Kikuyu - Kalenjin affair. If they're sharing position among themselves then what will other tribes get? If Ruto guarantees to safeguard central region economy will he give the same weight to other regions?

Ruto is still holding on to Mt Kenya because he believes they're the people who hold the key to his success. He can't throw them out because he can't get help from anywhere.
