President William Ruto has once again warmed the hearts of many Kenyans after he moved with speed and cleared freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi's wife's hospital bill of about Sh1 million.
The late Kimathi's wife, Mukami Kimathi, had earlier begged Kenyans to help her clear her hospital bill, a plea that forced the government of President Ruto to take immediate action.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited her at the Nairobi Hospital before he announced that Ruto had cleared her hospital bill.
The second in command took to social media and thanked his boss, the President, for the help of clearing the hospital bill
"This afternoon, I visited Mukami Kimathi, the wife of the late freedom fighter Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, at Nairobi Hospital.
"H.E. President William Samoei Ruto has cleared the Hospital Bill; Thank you, President William Ruto, for coming through for Mukami Kimathi and her family. You are a true and genuine friend of our people. Be blessed abundantly. Always," DP Gachagua noted.
Earlier on, DP Gachagua had notified Kenyans that he was not aware of Mukami Kimathi's sickness and the pending hospital bill until Saturday when he was in the Nyanza region after the media reported the same.
He then instructed Embakasi Central MP Hon Benjamin Gathiru a.k.a Major Donk to look into her situation urgently, as he promised to visit her in the hospital after returning to Nairobi.
The DP noted that her sickness had saddened him so much.
"I am saddened that Mukami, the wife of the hero of our freedom struggle Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri, has been ill and admitted to a Hospital in Nairobi," he had said earlier on Sunday morning.
Kenyans have since lauded the President for clearing the bill. This comes a few days after Ruto also cleared late veteran journalist Catharine Kasavuli's hospital bill.
