As the Orange Democratic Movement Party swears to protect their 2022 victory, Chief Justice Martha Koome has taken on Deputy President William Ruto and associates over their involvement in election preparations.
Martha Koome has stated that she will not bow to pressure from the United Democratic Alliance Party to withdraw from the National Multi-Sectoral Consultative Forum on Election Preparedness, adding that this is not the first time the Judiciary has been involved in election preparation.
"The National Multi-Sectoral Consultative Forum on Election Preparedness is a high-level, time-bound group made up of all heads of ministries, agencies, and departments in charge of various aspects of the election cycle,
Chief Justice Martha Koome has stated that "it is not a new platform."
The ODM Party has also stated that they will not sit and wait for the UDA, led by Deputy President William Ruto, to assume control of the electoral commission, and that they are fully prepared to defend their victory in 2022.
Junet Mohammed, the MP for Suna East, has stated that "We want to remind Chebukati that what happened in 2017 is still fresh in our minds. If they intend to repeat what happened in 2017, he will see ODM in its true colors. We must not be provoked by him."
Moreover, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna warned the then UDA led by DP Ruto to keep the team busy preparing for elections, telling the IEBC chairman not to cave in to their demands.
