The two upcoming By-elections in Mudavadi and Wetangula's turf is now turning into a contest between the top political bigwigs in the country. This is after the four party leaders came together and agreed to campaign for one candidate in the Matungu and Kabuchai constituencies. The By-election was occasioned by the death of the two legislators from those areas which is predominantly supporting Mudavadi and Kakamega senator Wetangula.

Kalonzo Musyoka and his party Wiper decided to go and join their counterparts from Amani National Congress party in druming up support so that the seat can remain in that party. KANU which is being led by Baringo senator, Gideon Moi also vowed to campaign for Mudavadi's candidate and for the last 3 days, they have been transversing Kabuchai and Matungu selling their preferred candidate. The four politicians are also hinting at forming an alliance ahead of the 2022 general election where they will field a candidate to go for the presidency.

The new party in town United Democratic Alliance(UDA) has also fielded a candidate to square it out with other contestants. UDA party has been largely associated with the Deputy President because most of his allies are advancing the ideologies of that party which is being led by the former Machakos senator. Campaigns are gearing up in this two constituencies and many analysts have come out to say that the UDA candidate has been sponsored by the deputy president and Mudavadi and his group are doing all they can keep away Dr Ruto from making inroads in their turf. Now it is just a matter of days before the by-elections are held and see who will carry the day.
