Four months ago the mother to the late Rongo university student Sharon Otieno points out her interest to serve as the member of county assembly of West HomaBay Town. She will contest next year under the umbrella of united Democratic Alliance ticket.
She explained her journey in joining politics was not her personal decision but people from Homabay Town West Ward requested her to join politics and assured her of their support.
Melinda Auma stated clearly that she is okay working with Deputy President William Ruto just like the main suspect in the murder of her daughter Governor Okoth Obado.Adding that she did not know that Governor Obado was also supporting Ruto.
" I did not know that UDA was the same party that Obado was backing. However,I don’t regret it because that does not affect my base in Homabay,”she told the media.
She also made it clear that the fact that both of them support the same party will not in any way affect the outcome of the case in which her daughter was murdered.Claiming that she chooses UDA because officials from the ODM party had disappointed her after the death of her daughter which had really frustrated the family at large.
