Ida Betty Odinga is the only wife of the former Prime Minister Hon. Raila Odinga and like a warrior she is, she has stayed by his side come rain come son and has undergone a lot of misfortunes due to the political unrest which was experienced in the country back in the 80s and 90s when Mr. Odinga was arrested and detained due to his involvement in political activities.

Mama Ida was born in the year 1950 in Migori currently Migori county and she is currently 71 years old. She did her O level in Migori and later joined University of Nairobi to persue Bachelor of Arts. She met Mr. Odinga during her University life. Mr. Odinga was a lecturer at that time in the Engineering department. They later married on the first of September 1973, one year later she completed her bachelor degree.
She then became a teacher who empowered woman, making her one of the most influential and powerful women in the country. She was expelled from her teaching professional after over 20 years due to Mr. Odinga's involvement in political activities. Mama Ida and Hon. Odinga had four children in their marriage life and lost one back in 2015 currently only three are remaining.
