Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has viciously attacked National assembly Speaker Justin Muturi informing Deputy President William Ruto, Kenya African National Union Party Leader Gideon Moi, Orange Democratic Movement Party Leader Raila Odinga among other Presidential contestants what they should do if they want the Mt Kenya region's support for their Presidential bid.
Governor Anne Waiguru has reacted to tomorrow’s planned coronation of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi informing that the move has no impact and that it will "not give him an upper hand because the people of Mt Kenya never had cultural kingpins and spokespersons until the colonialists came and installed the generally unpopular ‘paramount chiefs".
According to the Kirinyaga Governor, she has said that the move by the elders to crown Speaker Muturi "has little meaning politically" explaining that the move taken lacks consultations and consensus from the people of Mt Kenya region.
Waiguru has continued to inform that President Uhuru Kenyatta remains the kingpin of the Mountain region and that it is illegal for somebody to inherit him while still in power.
Sending a message to all presidential contestants seeking the Mt Kenya region's support in the year 2022 including those in the scramble for the votes of the region, the Kirinyaga County boss has extended that anyone seeking the votes of the region should come through a front door explaining that the people are the determiners.
“Ultimately Speaker Muturi and others seeking votes from Mt Kenya and elsewhere will have to go to the ground and seek votes from the only legitimate determinants of leadership, the people," Governor Anne Waiguru has added.
