The family of former Bonchari MP Zebedeo John Opore has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of his wife.

Mama Angelina Opore passed on on Saturday but Kisii youth leader Essy Okenyuri, who first broke the sad news on social media, did not disclose the cause of her demise.

The deceased was Opore's first wife and Okenyuri eulogised her as a hardworking and kind woman whose death is a huge blow to her family and the community at large.

"I convey my heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives & friends of Mama Angelina Opore. Angelina, the wife to former Bonchari Constituency MP Hon.Zebedeo Opore was a hardworking & virtuous lady.I wish you God's comfort & fortitude as you mourn your departed family matriarch," she posted.

Opore served as Bonchari legislator for two consecutive terms between 1997 to 2007 on KANU and Ford People tickets.

He was the Jubilee Party candidate during this year's May by-election but was defeated by ODM flagbearer Pavel Oimeke who won the race with 8,049 votes.

Opore garnered 7,279 votes, while UDA's Teresa Bitutu came third with 6,964 votes.
