A Section of Mount Kenya Lawmakers Propose Raila's Running Mate in the 2022 Presidential Race

Speaking on Sunday 17th October, during a church service at Kangema constituency, Murang'a county, section of Mount Kenya members of parliament proposed a running mate to Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential polls.

The lawmakers led by Nduati Ngugi of Gatanga, Peter Kimari of Mathioya, Wangari Mwaniki of Kigumo and nominated senator Isaac Ngugi said that former presidential hopeful Peter Kenneth is the best person from Mount Kenya region to deputise Raila Odinga.

The leaders noted that Peter Kenneth has been one of the greatest supporters of president Uhuru Kenyatta and even the handshake and would work we with Raila if given the opportunity to deputise him.

The leaders further said that Murang'a county Murang'a county played a leading roles in the past governments and it was good if the next deputy president comes from the region.

They promised to ensure that they do everything legally possible beginning with organisation of series of consultative meetings to have Peter Kenneth picked as a handshake candidate in the 2022 presidential polls.

"This region has produced three presidents, Jomo Kenyatta and Uhuru Kenyatta both from Kiambu county and Mwai Kibaki from Nyeri county. So we now feel this is our time to produce a national leader," Ngugi said.

Peter Kenneth has been one of the top leaders from Mount Kenya region who have been accompanying Raila Odinga in his political tours and there have been political rumours that he could deputise him in 2022.
