On Friday 28th of August 2020, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government CS Fred Matiang'i was Nyeri county for an official visit.
He got an opportunity to interact with among others the powerful Nyeri county deputy governor Madam Caroline Karugu who has disclosed that she made sure the Cabinet Secretary
"CS Matiang'i carries home a piece of Nyeri County. If you visit us or even transit through Nyeri, we insist that you carry back some of our produce - a piece of Nyeri County. The cabinet secretary is seen being helped by the deputy governor do shopping at an undisclosed market but it is believed to be the Chala market place where the cabinet secretary had visited earlier in the day.
He was also accompanied by local leaders including Nyeri town constituency Member of Parliament Hon Ngunjiri, Kieni MP Hon Kanini Kega among other notable leaders.
