Chief Justice Martha Koome Issues Presidential Election Petition Timelines Ahead Of Tuesday's Polls

The chief justice Martha Koome has issued timelines for the presidential petition ahead of polls slated for Tuesday, August 9.

In a circular sent to newsrooms, Chief Justice Martha Koome noted that the timelines are to be used by any team that would wish to petition the results of the presidential polls in court.

According to the note signed by Martha Koome, any presidential candidate is needed to file their petition within one week after the presidential results are announced by the Independent polls body.

The petitioner will sent the suit forms to the respondent within a day from the date of filling the petition.

The respondents will be given 96 hours to give their response to the petition from the time they received them.

After all this, the Supreme Court will give its ruling within two weeks, from the day the petition is filed.

Other presidential candidates contesting for the post are George Wajackoyah of the Roots party and David Mwaure Waihiga of Agano party.
