Nakuru Town East MP Realeased On Cash Bail After Attacking MCA Candidate In Naka And Lanet

After spending the previous night in detention, Nakuru Town East MP Gikaria was released from police custody on Wednesday on a Sh 50,000 cash bail.

Peter Mwanzo, the commander of the Nakuru County Police, said that Mr. Gikaria was released following the payment of the police cash bail and is now free to appear in court as necessary.

Before releasing the lawmaker, the police, according to Mr. Mwanzo, requested advice from the court regarding the cash bail.

We didn't want to keep him in custody because there were still unresolved issues, so we gave him cash bail while we finished assembling his case, according to Mr. Mwanzo.

Mr. Gikaria, who was detained on Tuesday following reports that he had attacked and hurt a candidate for the MCA at the Naka Primary School Poling Center, will have to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Nakuru every three days.

Additionally, he is charged with inciting violence at two voting places in Naka and Lanet.

The MP has been warned not to get involved in similar activities by Mr. Mwanzo, who revealed to Nation that the police will not hesitate to take action.

In order to strengthen their case, the police, according to the police chief, are currently taking witness accounts and filling out exhibit documentation.

Mr. Mwanzo stated, "We have warned him against engaging in any form of violence during this time, failing which the monetary bail will be lost and he will be detained."

The officer disclosed that after the Directorate of Public Prosecution confirms the charges, Mr. Gikaria is anticipated to appear in court on August 17.
