TBT Video Showing Ruto Stating Raila's Results In 2007 Defying ECK Results Elicits Reactions

William Samoei Ruto, the president of the Republic of Kenya, and his most formidable opponent in the 2022 general election have come a long way since their days as founding members of ODM prior to the 2007 general election.

Ruto made enormous sacrifices for his friend, whom he wanted to be the fourth president of the Republic of Kenya, when they were close friends.

In a throwback video posted online by one of the ODM members, Ruto can be seen holding a press conference on behalf of the ODM Brigade before the presidential election results were announced.

In his address, he cautioned the Kenyan electoral commission, then led by Samwel Kivuitu, against announcing results that did not correspond with the information ODM possessed.

According to the data he possessed, Raila Odinga won the election that year with 4215447 votes, while his closest challenger, the late Mwai Kibaki, received 375482 votes.

The former member of parliament for Eldoret North accused the electoral agency of not being a fair election official.

Fast-forward 15 years later, Ruto is now the president after narrowly defeating his longtime friend on August 9, 2017.

Raila has refused to acknowledge him as president, claiming that the IEBC stole his votes and rigged the election in Ruto's favor.

The internet response to the TBT video has been divided, with some Netizens praising Ruto for fighting so hard for Raila.

Ken j: This individual fought very hard for Baba to become president; what transpired?

Rain: Ruben is really aggressive, si ni mimi ndo nakushow.

Boby: Things went downhill for ODM after they introduced tribalism and removed leaders like Ruto.

"Bt hapa ndo Baba angesimama na Ruto na liwe liwalo, Baba amejifanya mzuri kwa watu hawampendi."

Kevo: Ruto should accept Raila's handshake and helicopter ride for his siblings and children. Kwa government na Ruto aeke unga 700 na mafuta 900 Luos will rejoice and return home in great spirits.
