The Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga has rejected the presidential results 2022.
While speaking at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) today, August 16, 2022, Mr. Odinga termed the results as "Null and Void". The former prime minister noted that the figures announce by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson, Wafula Chebukati, on Monday, August 15, lacks credibility.
"The figures announced by Chebukati are null and void and must be quashed by a court of law. In our view, there is neither a legally and validly declared winner nor a president-elect. He acted with gross imputy. He could have plunged our country into chaos had our supporters not exercised great restraint." Said Raila Odinga.
Raila urged his supporters to stay calm and maintain peace, as he is set to take legal action against the IEBC.
This came hours after four IEBC commissioners addresses the media over the outcome of presidential results whereby they alleged "it was opaque".
"When we demanded that we verify the result, the chair declined and insisted on declaring the result," said IEBC Vice Chair Juliana Cherara.
