Just In: Wafula Chebukati Appears Before Senate Today To Respond To 2022 General Polls Preparedness

Independent electoral and boundaries commission chairperson Wafula Chebukati appears before senate committee to respond to the committee on how the commission is prepared to handle 2022 general election. The meeting is held virtually.

Wafula Chebukati appears before the legal and human rights committee chaired by Nyamira senator, Okong'o Omogemi with other senators like makueni senator, mutula Kilonzo junior and Nairobi senator, Johnson sakaja.

"@SenCommitteeKE on Legal and Human Rights chaired by Nyamira Senator @OkongoOmogeniSC is currently meeting with @IEBCKenya Chairperson @WChebukati to respond to a statement by Nominated Senator, Mary Senator on the roadmap of activities leading to 2022 General elections", senate Kenya reports.

The are discussing on boundary review of constituencies and counties. This is after BBI proposed 70 more constituencies. They are also Discussing on the procedures the commission will undertake before the general polls that include Civic education, and voter registration.

"IEBC boundary review allocation,election operation plan and status of preparedness on the coming 2022 general elections.", Senate Kenya is quoted.

The boundaries proposed in the BBI may not take effect in the coming general election.
