William Samoei Ruto who is the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya has been on the sideline in his own government for now close to three years. The deputy president has been deprived of his office duties, reduced funds and also has been exempted from some cabinet meetings in the last three years.
Close allies to the president like David Murathe and Raphael Tuju have repeatedly shown their dislike for the deputy president with their actions and words. Last week David Murathe made a statement in one of the local televisions that the deputy president William Samoei Ruto will be removed from the hustler mansion. This week we saw the National Executive Committee having agreed on the decision to remove the deputy president William Samoei Ruto as the party's deputy leader.
The by elections that have happened in the last 3 months has seen several realignments in terms of political parties. For instance, through the intervention of the president, the by election in Machakos yesterday saw all parties except UDA withdrawing so as to support the Wiper party candidate. Maendeleo Chap Chap, Odm, Kanu, Ford Kenya, Jubilee and ANC party all withdrew from the Senatorial race yesterday but UDA Party which is linked to the deputy president William Samoei Ruto rallied it's candidate. The same had happened in Matungu, Kabuchai and London ward only that that time Odm party candidate competed.
In my considered opinion the sidelining of William Samoei Ruto and his continued political persecution will just win him sympathy votes in 2022. This is because Kenyans may believe that these guys (Uhuru, Kalonzo, Mudavadi, Gedion Moi and Wetangula) are gathering to squander the Kenyan cake and the only person who might save them is the deputy president. I strongly believe that the bottoms-up economy that William Ruto is vouching for and the hustler movement will surprise those other regrouping politicians.
