Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana has come to the rescue of the county's youths in the quest to set up an empowerment and innovation center. The county's boss has offered his official residence as a temporary venue to host the crucial youth center. "Should there be any form of push-and-pull in establishing the facility then I shall seek a resolution converting my official residence to temporarily serve the purpose until when a facility is put up," the governor said. His remarks comes after challenges emerged on the suitable location for the project.
Stakeholders are considering different locations around the county and the slow pace of the process implies delays in the use of the equipment and the centre. However, the governor has promised to liaise with the county education executive and the county assembly to fast track the entire process. Some of the key facilities for the youth center include a studio, swimming pool, table tennis court, darts area and basketball court.
The facilities will benefit youths from the entire coast region and not necessarily Tana River County alone. The innovation center is one of the ways to empower the youths while engaging them to prevent crimes and social ills such as drugs and substance abuse.
