It is less than 10 months for the nation to carry out it's political mandate of electing the preferred candidates. However it has been noted that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which is led by Wafula Chebukati is in dilemma on how to proceed with the poll preparations. According to reports by the Daily Nation, Chebukati finds it difficult as the Kenyan Parliament has not implemented key constitutional laws which allows the commission to gain power of to hasten the whole process. According to Him, the entire process requires billions of money to drive all activities across the Nation, however the Kenyan treasury has not yet approved the required sponsorship of finance as this limits the commission from carrying out important activities on time. It is also reported that the treasury has reduced the finance money to the commission which reduces the required amount of money needed to complete election preparations. Another key challenge has been noted from the Communication Authority as it has not yet initiated the 100% 3G network coverage in all the polling stations in the entire nation. Based on these fundamental key requirements to conduct an election, it reveals that Kenya might postpone the 2022 polls until the stipulated laws are amended and laid down.
