The August general election is fast approaching and politicians are laying out strategies that will guarantee them a place in the next government. Alignments, forging of political parties and forming of alliances are some of the activities that have dominated the political arena.
A confrontation between a church priest and MCA arised during a burial ceremony in Rurii ward, Ol Kalou constituency in Nyandarua county. Recently elected UDA MCA, Muraya Githaiga, faced a rough time after the priest questioned why has not installed piped water as he had promised during the campaigns.
"We can't allow you to be coming here with lies. Mheshimiwa you told us the first thing you will do is to connect us with fresh drinking water, what happened. We must now be questioning with some of these promises that you make. Come here in front and tell us when we will be getting clean water. And don't lie to us this time," alluded the priest.
The MCA responded by saying that plans were underway to have the area connected with water. However, the gathering mourners shouted him down.
Kenyan politicians have been accused of failing to keep promises they make while campaigning. This has costed them dearly where a big number do not get reelected.
