The building bridges initiative has faced much Criticism from leaders who are opposed to it terming it as plan to waste public resources through inclusion of added political seats. Leaders who are politically allied to deputy President William Ruto has been in forefront fighting the BBI and saying that it won't pass. This led to the Rift valley region being seen as a hostile ground for the passing the BBI document especially after Baringo county voted to oppose the BBI a week ago. However, things might have changed as the first county in the Rift valley region have voted to pass the document becoming the fifth and the first from the region to pass the document.
West Pokot has today voted to pass the BBI document becoming the fifth county in the country to pass the BBI. The BBI needs a total of 24 counties to see the document subjected to a referendum and the document is only 19 counties from being subjected to a referendum. The President and the ODM leader will be in much relief especially after West Pokot voted to pass the document despite the hostile environment that the BBI was facing in the Rift valley.
